Castle Music Studio exists today as the result of many factors.  Primarily because, after years of studying piano in my youth, I had a dream of opening my own piano studio. I was eager to give piano students the gift of music.

I attended Michigan State University as a Classical Piano Performance Major.  While at MSU, I also performed with jazz bands, studied piano pedagogy, and completed K-12 music education classes.  During this time I gained valuable information about the piano teaching methods that I use today. 

After getting married in 2000, I transferred to Wayne state University in Detroit, MI, where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.  I initially taught out of my home, and later opened my own private studio. I teach Music Appreciation classes, Music Theory, Piano, Chorus, Musical Theatre, Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, and High School music.  I also teach group and private piano and voice lessons to several students in my personal studio.  I have a passion for creating a fun and challenging lesson environment that is tailor made with each student in mind.  

I recognize the potential in each one of my students.  Since starting as a music educator in 2000, my results are a testament to the fact that my system works!

Fundamentals

It is very important to gain a firm foundation to build upon with playing the piano.  This is something that we strive to do as a piano instructors. Students will engage in fun play-based activities during lessons. Some fundamentals include building musicality, learning to read notes, ear training, singing, rhythm, instrument playing, and playing in an ensemble!

Technique

Castle Piano Studio makes sure to incorporate Piano Technique into their lessons. Teachers need to be able to motivate and guide students towards success in this area.  As experienced and passionate piano teachers, we believe in developing student’s technique to give them the best touch while playing the piano.

Music Theory

Music Theory is a must have for gaining an in-depth understanding of how music works.  We make learning fun through a variety of engaging and outside-the-box activities, while giving students the knowledge needed to develop in theory.
